Course Goals
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:Describe the integrated multi-discipline engineering design process for buildings.Perform analytical and computational analysis of building heating and cooling loads.Describe various building HVAC systems configuration and operation.Design building ventilation systems as per British Columbia Building Codes and ASHRAE Standards 62.1.Design electric heating systems.Design hydronic heating and cooling systems, which include the specification for boilers, chillers, pumps and piping distribution and heating and cooling terminal units.Design forced air heating and cooling systems, which include the specification for air handling unit, fans, ducts and air diffusion components.Describe building plumbing engineering systems.Describe Building fire protection systems.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

Requirements
Advancement: Students who fail three or more courses in a term cannot advance to the next term and may be asked to discontinue from the program.
Makeup Tests, Exams or Quizzes: There will be no makeup tests, exams or quizzes for failed assessments or for an unexcused absence from an assessment. Reasonable accommodation and allowance will be made when students are ill or otherwise have good reason to be absent in accordance with Policy 5101.
Examinations: Only approved calculators and authorized materials are allowed. All other electronic devices including personal music players, mobile devices (cell phones) and laptops are prohibited.
